- The Southard family came over on the Mayflower in 1620.
- Became shipbuilders in Richmond, Maine and later house joiners in Boston.
- Our ancestors instilled in us the love of building and the fine art of craftsmanship.
Today, we are the Southard family of Topsfield, Massachusetts, Chuck, Chaz and Corey. Our business, The Country Carpenter, is a local family owned and operated remodel contracting company. We are a fully insured, licensed, EPA Lead Paint certified company.
The company was first established in Topsfield, Massachusetts in 1986 by Chuck Southard, based on customer satisfaction, quality craftsmanship and first class material.
With a specialty in finish carpentry the company developed into a general contracting company building custom new homes, additions and upscale renovations. But even as some projects were very large the small projects were always welcomed and performed in a timely manner.
